Flying to Limpopo for Shaun and Mad’s wedding was amazing and seeing the landscape change under us. Bushveld and almost Savanaa’ian, one can understand the precious commodity water adds to this area. And what an appropriate place to tie the knot, next to the mighty Limpopo river. Although it doesn’t look like much right now it still holds promise that water will flow again.
We met up with the bride and groom-to-be the day before and spent some time driving on the Fahad Private Game Reserve. It was breathtaking and you could feel the air was charged with excitement. Spending time with these two one could easily see how much they adored one another and of course their fur-children.
Finally, the day broke and what a gorgeous day it was! Madeleine and her beautiful entourage and Shaun and his dapper dudes. I must admit I had a few tears in my eyes when Mad’s “walked” down the isle with her father by her side. They all came dancing to the beautiful words: “Die Here is my vesting, die Here is my krag. Hy’s my bron en Hy’s my redding, die Een op wie ek wag.”
It was the sweetest of gestures, I will not forget.
Madeleine and Shaun then invited all their guests for a delicious food-market dinner and decadent cakes for dessert. The perfect match for these two and their lifestyle.
Mad’s and Shaun thank you so much that we could be part of your day. It was a memorable day for us and we loved spending time with you and all your guests. We so enjoyed the speeches especially your English-language challenge brother. Such a big laugh.
Our wish for you two is that even if the formula’s do not make sense, remember it started with you two. So much love!!! Enjoy your memories.
